Grandma's Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients
  Cake yeast 2 Ounce
  Oatmeal 1 Cup (16 tbs), uncooked
  Molasses 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Salt 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Egg 1
  Flour 5 Cup (80 tbs)
  Egg yolk 1
Directions

MAKING
1. In one cup of warm water, dissolve the yeast
2. In a saucepan, add one and a half cups of water and bring it to a boil; add oatmeal, molasses shortening and salt and allow to cool
3. When down to lukewarm temperature, add dissolved yeast, one egg and flour to the mixture and beat it thoroughly; make sure thge dough is soft, not sticky
4. Let the dough rise, knead and shape into two loaves; place them into greased tins and allow to rise till double
5. In a bowl, mix egg yolk with one teaspoon of water and dry oatmeal and use this to brush on the loaves
6. Bake at 375° F for fifty minutes or less

SERVING
7. Serve as appropriate
