Green Mealie Bread

Ingredients
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Butter 1 Tablespoon
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Mealie cobs 5 Large
Directions

Cut the mealies from the cob and put through the mincer.
Mix all the ingredients.
Place in a buttered pudding mould or tin.
Steam for 2 hours.
The bread may also be baked in a bread tin in a moderate oven for 30 — 45 minutes.
To serve, cut into slices and serve hot with butter, syrup, honey or fresh or stewed fruit.
This dish may also be used as a vegetable.
