Whole Wheat Brown Bread
|Unsifted wholewheat flour||3 Pound|
|Flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Cake yeast||1 Tablespoon|
|Water/Milk||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
Dissolve the yeast in the water or milk.
Add half the meal and beat well until smooth.
Leave in a warm place, covered, until light and spongy.
Add salt, melted butter, remaining flour and the honey.
Knead well for 10 minutes until the mixture is elastic.
Put into a greased basin and cover and leave in a warm place until it is double its bulk.
Shape into loaves and put into pans.
Brush with melted butter to prevent too hard a crust.
Leave in a warm place to double its bulk, then bake at 400° F for about 1 hour.
