|Melted shortening||4 Tablespoon|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Ground orange peel||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Approximately 4 Oranges)|
|Sifted flour||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Baking powder||4 Teaspoon|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
Boil water and sugar until sugar is dissolved.
Add orange peel and cook 10 minutes.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and 1/2 cup sugar together.
Cool orange peel mixture and add to dry ingredients, reserving syrup.
Combine syrup with enough milk to make 1 cup.
Blend egg and shortening with milk and add to flour mixture.
Put in loaf pan, bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
