Soda Bread

Ingredients
  Plain flour 1 Pound (450 Gram, 4 Cups)
  Salt 5 Milliliter (1 Teaspoon)
  Soda bicarbonate 5 Milliliter (1 Teaspoon)
  Cream of tartar 5 Milliliter (1 Teaspoon)
  Buttermilk 12 Fluid Ounce (350 Milliliter, 1 1/2 Cups)
Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 220°C/425°F/ Gas 7. Flour a baking sheet. Sift all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and make a small well in the centre.
2. Add the buttermilk and mix quickly to a soft dough. Turn on to a floured surface and knead lightly. Shape into a round about 18 cm / 7 in across and put on the baking sheet.
3. Cut a deep cross on top of the loaf and sprinkle with a little flour. Bake for 25-30 minutes, then transfer the soda bread to a wire rack to cool.
