Old Fashioned Bread

Ingredients
  Flour 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Lard/Butter, softened 6 Tablespoon
  Milk 375 Milliliter (1 1/2 Cups, Sour / Fresh)
Directions

Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl and rub in lard or butter with the fingertips until mixture is like fine breadcrumbs.
Make a well in the center and pour in milk.
Using a knife, cut the mixture into dough, then turn out on to a floured board and lightly knead.
Shape into a round and place on a greased baking tray.
Cut top of dough with deep slits in a cross, brush with a little extra milk and sprinkle with flour.
Cook in a hot oven for 10-12 minutes, until golden, reduce heat to moderate and cook a further 15-18 minutes.
