Apricot Date Bread

Ingredients
  Bottled milk/6 tablespoon evaporated milk and 6 tablespoon. water 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Orange rind 1 Tablespoon, grated
  Melted shortening 1 Tablespoon
  All purpose flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Baking powder 2 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Granulated sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Unsifted wholewheat flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Dried apricots 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Pitted dates 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Combine milk, beaten egg, orange rind, and shortening.
Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar; stir into first mixture.
Stir in the whole-wheat flour and dried fruits combined, and mix thoroughly.
Pour into a well-greased or oiled loaf pan about 9" x 5" x 3", and bake in a moderately hot oven of 375ºF for 50 min or until done.
