Cranberry Orange Fruit Bread

Ingredients
  Sifted all purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Granulated sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Orange 1 , grated rind and juiced
  Melted butter 3 Tablespoon
  Egg 1 , well beaten
  Chopped nuts 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Fresh cranberries 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), chopped fine
  Maraschino cherries 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), cut in quarters
Directions

Sift first five ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
Mix orange juice, grated rind and melted butter in a measuring cup.
Add enough boiling water to make 2/3 cup.
Combine this with beaten egg.
Stir liquid into dry ingredients.
Fold in nuts, cranberries and cherries.
Put batter in a greased 8 x 4 inch loaf pan and let stand 20 minutes.
Bake at 350F for 60 minutes.
Brush with corn syrup while hot and decorate with chopped nuts and cherries.
