Old Fashioned Wheat Batter Bread
|Flour||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||2 Tablespoon|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Whole wheat flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Buttermilk||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 375° F.
Generously grease a 7-inch round cake pan.
In bowl, combine white flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Cut in butter until like coarse cornmeal.
Add whole wheat flour and buttermilk; mix.
Knead on lightly floured board 5-6 times.
Place in prepared pan.
With floured knife, cut cross almost to bottom of batter.
Bake 40 minutes.
If desired, brush with melted butter.
Remove from pan to cool.
