|Flour||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Active dry yeast||1⁄2 Tablespoon|
|Unsalted butter||2 Tablespoon, softened|
|Hot water||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs) (120 To 130 Degree F)|
|Grated orange peel||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Clear honey||3 Tablespoon (Warm, If Preferred)|
|Candied cherry halves||8 , candied|
|Light brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), firmly packed|
|Chopped walnuts||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Unsalted butter||1 Tablespoon, melted|
|Confectioners sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Orange extract||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
1 Combine 1 cup flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in mixing bowl. Add butter, egg, hot water, and orange peel. Mix thoroughly.
2 Add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
3 Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth€”about 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turning to coat top.
4 Cover; let rise in warm place until double€”about 1 hour. Make filling.
5 Punch down dough. Let rest 10 minutes. Roll to a 7 x 10-inch rectangle.
6 Spread filling evenly, leaving 1-inch margin. Roll up jelly-roll style; pinch to seal.
7 Form into a snail shape (coil) on large greased baking sheet. Cover; let rise in warm place until double€”about 30€”45 minutes.
8 Bake in a preheated 350°F oven 30€”40 minutes or until done. Cool on wire rack.
9 Make frosting and spread on top or, if preferred, spread top with 3 tablespoons warm, clear honey. Decorate with walnut halves and candied cherry halves.
