Christmas Fruit Bread

Ingredients
  Scalded milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Citron 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), peeled and diced
  Chopped nuts 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Glace cherries 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Raisins 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Grated orange rind 1 Tablespoon
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Bread flour 3 Cup (48 tbs), sifted
Directions

Add 1 package yeast dissolved according to instructions on package.
Mix until well blended-(soft dough).
Turn onto a well floured board and shape into a loaf.
Put in a greased loaf pan.
Cover and let rise in warm place for about 1 hour (doubled).
Bake at 375° fori hour.
Let cool and ice with: 1/2 cup icing sugar; 1 tablespoon milk; 1/4 teaspoon vanilla.
Scatter bits of cherries and nuts over icing.
