Sabzi Mandi

Sabzi mandi is a brand of supermarket located in New Jersey of United States, catering to the residing Indian community and operated by an Indian himself. They sell all kinds of fruits, vegetables, pulses, Indian sweets, other typical Indian food and also Indian dvds; and are famous for their low range of prices compared to other groceries in the neighbourhood. They operate out of New Jersey and have spread out to Canada as well.

 

History

 

Sabzi mandi are two Hindi words which mean vegetable market. Vegetable market here includes all fresh supplies required in an Asian kitchen. It is a chain of grocery stores in United States and Canada. The first outlet was established in 1995, at Iselin, in New Jersey. After a few years they opened their second outlet at Parsippany, in New Jersey and thereafter the third store at Sommerset in New Jersey. Soon after, and as they gained popularity for their special range of Indian food items, they expanded to Canada, in the year 2005. The Canadian store came to be known as D & G Sabzi mandi Cash & Carry and was spread across a magnanimous 8500 sq. ft. area. Last heard another store expanding over 11,000 sq. ft. located at Brampton, Ontario, Canada was opened in November, 2007. This outlet is located in the heart of the city thus making it easily accessible for one and all, providing their wholesome, friendly, clean service. This was also called the D & G Sabzi mandi Cash & Carry.

 

Sabzi mandi brand of grocery stores have managed to carve a niche for themselves, based solely on the availability of every unique Indian food item, desired by the residing Indian community. It is a speciality grocery store that specializes in Indian and South Asian ingredients. The business is run by an Indian family. Although it is not a BBB ( Better Business Bureau ) accredited business, Sabzi mandi enjoys great popularity and an excellent reputation not only in the Indian community but for Indian food lovers. They have an ATM facility, a free parking lot and accept most of the cards namely, American Express, Cash, Discover, Master Card, Visa and Debit Card. It operates seven days a week from morning 7 am to 8 pm in the night.

All Indian food lovers head out for one or other store of Sabzi mandi, scavenging for not so easily available Indian ingredients, across United States and Canada. They not only cater to the fruit, vegetable, pulses, rice, flours and spices requirement of Indian cuisine, but also stock freshly made Indian sweetmeats, without which any Indian festival celebration is incomplete. The Indian sweets are available in both regualar as well as vibrantly decorated gift packs, some even bearing a picture of the famous Hindu lord, Ganesha.
