Bran Date Bread

  Baking soda 2 Teaspoon
  Dates 8 Ounce, cut up (1 Package)
  Boiling water 1 2⁄3 Cup (26.67 tbs)
  Margarine 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Granulated sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Eggs 2 , beaten
  Sourdough starter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  All purpose unbleached white flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Whole wheat flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Unprocessed wheat bran 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Wheat germ 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Sliced almonds 2 Cup (32 tbs)

Mix baking soda and dates.
Pour boiling water over; let stand until cool.
Cream margarine and sugar.
Add eggs; beat until smooth.
Combine Sourdough Starter and date mixture.
Combine flours, wheat bran, and wheat germ.
Add dates and flour mixture alternately to creamed mixture; mix well after each addition.
Fold in nuts.
Pour batter into well-greased and floured small loaf pans.
Bake at 375 °F 10 minutes.
Lower temperature to 350°F; bake 50 minutes or until done.
Remove bread from oven.
Let stand 10 minutes before removing from pans.
