  Bran 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Ginger 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Baking powder 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Pitted dates 1⁄2 Pound, chopped
  Sour milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Molasses 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Shortening 2 Tablespoon, melted
Directions

Combine ingredients in the order listed.
Bake about 55 minutes at 350F in a greased loaf tin.
