Easy Baked Tongue
|Pickled tongue||4 Pound|
|Canned tomatoes||15 Ounce (1 can)|
|Onions||2 Medium, sliced|
1 In a pan, boil tongue over medium heat , for about 2 hours, changing water three times and always starting with cold water.
2 This process will remove excess salt.
3 Drain thoroughly, reserving 1 cup stock.
4 Peel and trim the tongue.
5 In a roast pan, place the tongue.
6 Add in onions, stock, tomatoes and a very small amount of pickling spice (optional).
7 Bake in 325 degree Fahrenheit oven approximately for 1 hour or till tender, basting often.
8 Use basting for gravy.
9 Serve immediately.
