Soda Biscuits

Ingredients
  Whole wheat flour 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shortening 2 Tablespoon
  Buttermilk 1 Cup (16 tbs) (or sour milk)
Directions

In the Bosch bowl blend together the whole wheat flour, salt, soda, and shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Gently stir in sour milk with a fork, mixing only until all the dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn out onto a floured board.
Knead two to three times.
Sprinkle lightly with flour, and press out with fingers to 1/21'nch thickness.
Cut with a biscuit cutter.
Well oil a baking sheet, and dip the top of each biscuit in the oil on the sheet, and then turn over to bake.
Bake in a 400° F.oven for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
NOTE: Sweet milk may be soured by adding 1 tablespoon cider vinegar to 1 cup sweet milk.
Fifty percent allpurpose flour may be used to make a lighter biscuit.
After the milk has been added, the dough should be moist.
Biscuit ' dough that is too dry will not make a light biscuit.
