Basic Biscuit

Ingredients
  Butter 125 Gram
  Caster sugar 6 Ounce (3/4 Cup, 185 Gram)
  Vanilla essence 1 Teaspoon
  Egg 1
  Plain flour 4 Ounce, sifted (1 Cup, 125 Gram)
  Self-raising flour 4 Ounce, sifted (1 Cup, 125 Gram)
Directions

1. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Fold in plain and self-raising flours, cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
2. Roll heaped teaspoonfuls of mixture into balls. Place onto a greased oven tray, spacing well apart to allow for spreading. Flatten each biscuit slightly with a fork and bake at 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool on tray for a few minutes then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
