Baking Powder Biscuits
|All purpose flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Shortening||8 Teaspoon (2 Tablespoons Plus 2 Teaspoons)|
|Skim milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Skim milk||1 Tablespoon (For Brushing Tops)|
Heat oven to 450°F.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt (if used) in medium bowl.
Cut in with pastry blender (or 2 knives) to form coarse crumbs.
Stir until dry ingredients are just moistened.
Place on floured surface.
Pat or roll into circle slightly more than 1/2 inch thick".
With 2-inch round biscuit cutter, cut 8 or 9 biscuits.
Press dough scraps into ball.
Cut remaining 3 or 4 biscuits.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Brush tops with milk.
Bake at 450°F for 6 to 8 minutes or until tops begin to brown.
