Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
Cut in shortening.
Add milk and stir with fork until soft dough is formed (about 20 strokes).
Turn out on lightly floured board and knead 20 turns.
Pat or roll lightly 1/2 inch thick.
Cut with floured 2-inch biscuit cutter.
Bake on ungreased baking sheet in hot oven (450°F) 12 to 15 minutes.
