Beer Extract

Beer extract refers to beer made from malt extract and not directly from the grain. It is a more convenient process in comparison to brewing with the grain as it can be made with lesser equipment than brewing with the former.

Preparation of Beer Extract

Beer extract is prepared with malt extract, crystal malt, hops, ale yeast and water. The processing of beer involves the following steps:

1. Mashing- mashing the malt grain by heating
2. Lautering- extraction of the substances for making wort
3. Boiling- boiling wort to prevent infection
4. Fermentation- by adding yeast to the cooled wort
5. Conditioning- for enhanced flavoring of the beer
6. Filtering- for flavor stability and luster of the beer
7. Bottling- packing beer into containers
