How Different Beers Call For Different Beer Glasses

It is pretty interesting to study about how different beers call for different beer glasses? Most of us believe that only beer mugs are the type of beer glasses available for enjoying beers. But that’s not true. There are different beer glasses for different types of beers.  Some may say that other types of beer glasses are all about smart marketing, but that’s not true, different beers call for different beer glasses. Virtues of beer are more pronounced when they are enjoyed in the correct beer glasses. Here goes our take on different types of beer glasses:

 

Beer Mug: We all are familiar with this type of beer glassware. The large handle of beer mug actually accentuates its beauty. The beer mugs come in different sizes. The beer mugs are normally preferred over other beer glasses because they hold more beer than other glasses.  With the beer mug you feel confident and proud while raising the toast. And one of the impairment reasons of going for beer mug is that it makes beer sipping an enjoyable affair.  Normally the mug is recommended for beers like  American Amber – Red Ale; American Amber – Red Lager; American Brown Ale; American Malt Liquor; Chile Beer , etc,.

 

Pint Glass:  Pint glass as the name suggests come in two sizes: 16-ounce and 20-ounce glasses. Pint glass falls into the league of totally different beer glasses due to its virtually different shape. The 16 ounce glass is the most commonly used beer glass throughout the US. There is a slight ridge towards the top of the glass and the grip allows stacking maximum beer. The 20-ounce glass holds more beer and is good for enjoying the beers with large crown heads.  Normally the pint glass is recommended for beers like  American Amber – Red Ale; American Amber – Red Lager; American Brown Ale; American Malt Liquor; Chile Beer ; Cream Ale; English Dark Mild Ale , etc,.

 

Snifter: Normally the snifters are used for cognac and brandy. The wide-bowled and stemmed body of the snifter makes it perfect to hold strong ales. The aromas of the strong ales are best captured by snifter glass.  The snifters enhance and capture volatiles. Normally the snifter glass is recommended for beers like American Barleywine; American Strong Ale; Braggot; Gueze; Tripel ; Wheatwine, etc.

 

Goblet: A mention about different beer glasses would be incomplete if we don’t talk about goblet. The structure of goblets may vary from delicate and long stemmed to thick walled and heavy. The delicate goblets have their rims which are laced with gold and silver. The thick walled goblets are cultured like stems. The goblet is designed to maintain the head of the beer. And is perfect for taking deep sips. Normally the goblet is recommended for beers like Belgian IPA ; Dubbel; Quadrupel; and Tripel.

 

Pilsner Glass: Pilsner glass is designed to capture the head of the beer. When speaking about different beer glasses the experts mostly address this pilsner because it is best to showcase the color of the beer, and it also accentuates the clarity and carbonation of the beer.  Normally the Pilsner glass is recommended for beers like American Adjunct Lager; American Amber/Red Langer; Bock; Europ Dark Lager, etc.
