Stuffed Beef

Stuffed beef is a savory and filling dish made by stuffing beef tenderloin (cut from beef’s loin) with several ingredients, spices, herbs, and seasonings. The beef stuffing ingredients commonly consist of cheese, onions, mushrooms, parsley, and garlic. Salt and pepper are used as the seasoning agents. There are quite a few variations of stuffed tenderloin of beef, explained in terms of use of distinct stuffing ingredients, with the method of preparing the dish remaining almost the same in all the variations, where the stuffing is placed in the center of beef slice, which is then rolled out, secured with a string, and then baked in oven. A popular and simplest stuffed beef recipe suggests the use of beef tenderloin, butter, shallots (or yellow onions), fresh mushrooms, salt, pepper, and soy sauce.   

 

The stuffed beef is prepared by opening the beef, sprinkling pepper and salt, rubbing soy sauce, placing mushroom mix in the center, and then rolling the beef and securing it with the help of a twine. The beef tenderloin is then baked in oven, and served after slicing it. The mushroom mix used as the beef stuffing here is made by cooking shallots and mushroom in butter.

A few popular variations of stuffed beef have been explained as under:

 

  • Stuffed beef rolls- The recipe for this dish suggests stuffing beef slices with parsley mixture, and browning them in oil. The parsley mixture used as the stuffing for this dish is made by combining together cheese, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and pignoli (pine nuts). The beef rolls are now placed in warm pasta sauce, and served along with pasta.

 

  • Gorgonzola and Mushroom Stuffed Beef Tenderloin with Merlot Sauce- beef is cut in the form of slices and stuffed with mushroom mix before rolling the slices, tying them with a string and baking them. The beef stuffing used in this dish is prepared by cooking mushrooms in butter, and then stirring in Gorgonzola cheese, parsley, and bread crumbs.  The baked beef rolls are served with Merlot sauce prepared by cooking together, currant jelly, Meriot (red wine), butter, and beef flavored broth.

 

  • Lobster stuffed tenderloin of beef- beef tenderloin is cut lengthwise, and stuffed with cooked lobster pieces. The lobster pieces are drizzled with a mix of lemon juice and melted butter, before rolling the beef slice and securing it with a string. The stuffed tenderloin of beef is then baked in oven for some time, then topped with bacon and roasted. This stuffed beef dish is served after pouring over wine based sauce made by sautéing onions in butter and then stirring in garlic and wine.
