Beef Juice

Beef juice is the liquid extracted from the meat of cow by application of heat. It is not the same as a beef broth which contains additional ingredients.  The juice is usually taken as medicine as it is extremely nutritious. It is often seasoned or consumed with crackers in order to make it palatable. It can be stored for three days if kept under refrigeration. The beef, after the extraction of juice becomes devoid of water and has to be discarded.

The juice extracted from beef is considered to be an excellent nutrient for the invalids. It is used to regain the lost strength after a long period of illness and also helps in enlivening the appetite especially when the individual had been confined to milk and related products during the long course of illness.

Beef Juice: Preparation Methods

The juice can be extracted out of beef into a glass jar or bottled up for future use. There are two different methods for extracting the juice at present.

  • Heating- The lean fiber of the beef is used exclusively for extracting the juice. It is cut into small strips and placed in water before being boiled slowly for over an hour at a temperature of 160 degrees F. The juice is completely strained from the meat and the remnants compressed for extracting the last drop of juice from it. The juice thus obtained is usually red in color. It can be consumed immediately by seasoning it with salt.
  • Broiling- The lean portion of the beef can also be broiled over a charcoal fire for six to eight minutes until it is tender. The juice is extracted by pressing the meat with the aid of a lemon juice extractor and the liquid becomes ready for consumption immediately.
  • Beef Tea- A diluted form of beef juice that is recommended by doctors for building up the strength of young children and debilitated patients.
