Savory Beef

Ingredients
  Onions 3 Large, sliced
  Fat 3 Tablespoon
  Beef 2 Pound (shank, plate rump or round)
  Flour 3 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Black pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ground cloves/Summer savory 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Ground thyme/Summer savory 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Brown stock/Boiling water and meat extract 1 Pint
  Vinegar 2 Tablespoon
  Catsup 1 Tablespoon
Directions

GETTING READY
1.Start by cutting the meat into serving pieces
MAKING
2.In a pan, brown onion slowly in fat
3.Now add the meat pieces to the onions and brown them
4.Mix flour and dry seasonings and sprinkle over meat
5.Add stock, vinegar and catsup
6.Cover the pan
7.Simmer until meat is tender, allowing 2 hours for shank or plate and 1 1/2 hours for rump or round
SERVING
8.Serve with creamy mashed potatoes
