The sweet and sour beef recipe can be prepared with chuck roast or arm roast. Cooked in the oven with pickling sauce tied in cheese cloth and onions, the sweet and sour beef is prepared with a ginger snap gravy and can be served with potato dumplings or potato pancakes.
Chuck roast/Arm roast
2 Tablespoon, tied in cheesecloth
15 , crushed
Place roast in heavy skillet; brown on both sides.
Place roast in roasting pan; add vinegar, sugar, pickling spice, onion and enough water to cover roast.
Bake at 325 degrees for 3 to 4 hours or until tender.
Remove meat; make gravy using gingersnaps instead of flour for thickening.
Serve with potato dumplings or potato pancakes.
