New England Boiled Dinner
Onion soup mix- 2 envelopes
Water- 3 cups
Yellow or white turnips - 1/2 medium or 6 small, cut into wedges
Potatoes - 4 medium, pared and quartered
Carrots - 2 medium, pared and quartered
Cabbage - 1/2 medium, cut into wedges
Salt and pepper to taste
1) Take a large saucepan and pour water in it. Add beef and onion soup mix. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
2) Add turnip, potatoes and carrots. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
3) Add cabbage and cook for another 10 minutes or until meat and vegetables are tender.
4) Serve warm with bread.
