Quick Beef Broth

Ingredients
  Lean ground beef 1 1⁄2 Pound
  Cold water 5 Cup (80 tbs)
  Carrots 2 Medium, chopped
  Onions 2 Medium, chopped
  Bay leaf 1
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Thyme 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Peppercorns 3
Directions

1. Combine beef, water in 3-quart Sauce Pan; bring slowly to boil over medium heat; add vegetables, seasonings; skim off top occasionally; reduce heat to low; simmer 1 hour. (As liquid evaporates, replace with boiling water.)
2. Strain broth; color with liquid browning sauce, as desired; cool slightly, then refrigerate overnight; lift off top layer of hardened fat; discard; store broth in air-tight containers in refrigerator or freezer. Makes 1 quart
