Creamed Dried Beef On Cabbage
|Butter/Margarine||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Finely shredded cabbage||6 Cup (96 tbs) (packed for measuring)|
|Milk||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Canned sliced mushrooms||3 Ounce, drained (1 can)|
|Sliced dried beef||2 1⁄2 Ounce, cut into 1/2 inch strips (1 jar)|
|Canned peas||8 1⁄2 Ounce, drained (1 can)|
About 30 minutes before serving: In large skillet, in 2 tablespoons butter, saute cabbage and salt until tender-crisp—3 to 5 minutes.
In medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter.
Stir in flour until smooth; slowly add milk, stirring constantly.
Add mushrooms, dried beef, peas and pepper, stirring often until hot.
Arrange cabbage in thin layer on heated platter; pour beef mixture on top.
