Braised Beef Neapolitan
|Lean braising steak||1 1⁄2 Pound (675 Gram)|
|Tomatoes||1 Pound, skinned and chopped (1/2 Kilogram)|
|Onions||2 Small, chopped|
|Garlic||2 Clove (10 gm), crushed|
|Dried mixed herbs||1 Pinch|
Divide the meat into four steaks and cut off any excess fat.
Season well with the salt and pepper.
Grill for 5 minutes on each side, or until the meat is lightly browned.
Transfer to an ovenproof casserole.
Mix together the tomatoes, onions, garlic, herbs and seasoning to taste and spoon over the meat.
Put the dish into the oven preheated to moderate (180 C / 350 F or Gas Mark 4) and bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
The cooking time will depend on the thickness and quality of the meat.
