Pot Roast

Ingredients
  Vegetable oil 30 Milliliter (2 Tablespoons)
  Sirloin tip roast 3 Pound (1.4 Kilograms)
  Onions 5 , peeled, cut in 4
  Dry red wine 500 Milliliter (2 Cups)
  Tomato sauce 500 Milliliter, heated (2 Cups)
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), smashed and chopped
  Thyme 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Basil 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Allspice 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
Heat oil in large ovenproof casserole.
Sear beef 6 to 8 minutes over medium-high heat on all sides; season well.
Add onions and continue cooking 6 to 8 minutes over medium heat.
Pour in wine and tomato sauce.
Add garlic, seasonings and bring to boil.
Cover and cook 2 1/2 hours in oven.
