|Dried beef||1⁄4 Pound, shredded|
|Pepper||1 Dash, freshly ground|
Heat butter in a saucepan, add dried beef, and fry over a moderate heat until edges begin to look crisp.
Sprinkle in flour and continue cooking 3 to 4 minutes, stirring constantly.
Pour in milk and cook, still stirring, until mixture bubbles.
Season with a dash of pepper.
