Sweet & Sour Green Beans

I serve the Sweet & Sour Green Beans dish on the days I am hard pressed for time. Sweet & Sour Green Beans are tasty and simple and a family favorite. You just have to try it!
Ingredients
  Green beans 2 Pound (1 Kilograms)
  Water 60 Milliliter (4 Tablespoon)
  Vegetable oil 15 Milliliter (1 Tablespoon)
  Grated onion 30 Milliliter (2 Tablespoon)
  Vinegar 125 Milliliter (1/2 Cup)
  Sugar 30 Milliliter (2 Tablespoon)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Black pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Crisp bacon slices 6 , crumbled
Directions

Wash and trim the ends from the beans; cut into julienne strips and place in a 2 quart (2 L) casserole with the water.
Cook approximately 25 minutes or until the beans are just tender.
Do not overcook.
Heat the vegetable oil in a separate saucepan; add the grated onion, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper.
Bring this mixture to a boil and add any remaining cooking liquid from the beans.
After approximately 5 minutes of cooking pour the dressing over the drained green beans and toss thoroughly.
Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top and serve at once.
