Sweet & Sour Green Beans
|Green beans||2 Pound (1 Kilograms)|
|Water||60 Milliliter (4 Tablespoon)|
|Vegetable oil||15 Milliliter (1 Tablespoon)|
|Grated onion||30 Milliliter (2 Tablespoon)|
|Vinegar||125 Milliliter (1/2 Cup)|
|Sugar||30 Milliliter (2 Tablespoon)|
|Black pepper||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Crisp bacon slices||6 , crumbled|
Wash and trim the ends from the beans; cut into julienne strips and place in a 2 quart (2 L) casserole with the water.
Cook approximately 25 minutes or until the beans are just tender.
Do not overcook.
Heat the vegetable oil in a separate saucepan; add the grated onion, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper.
Bring this mixture to a boil and add any remaining cooking liquid from the beans.
After approximately 5 minutes of cooking pour the dressing over the drained green beans and toss thoroughly.
Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top and serve at once.
