Savory Green Beans With Parmesan

Ingredients
  Green beans 1 1⁄2 Pound
  Oil 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), crushed
  Onion 1 Tablespoon, chopped
  Green pepper 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), diced
  Boiling water 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Dried basil 1 Teaspoon
  Parmesan cheese 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), grated
Directions

1. Leave the beans whole, or cut into one-inch pieces.
2. Heat the oil and garlic in a heavy pan. Add the onion and green pepper and cook slowly three minutes. Add the beans, water, salt and basil, cover and simmer until the beans are tender, about fifteen minutes if whole.
3. Stir in half the cheese, turn the mixture into a serving dish and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
