Baked Beans With Ham And Maple Syrup
|Boneless precooked ham steak||1 Pound, cut into 1 inch cubes|
|Carrots||2 Medium, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick|
|Maple syrup||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Dijon mustard||1 Tablespoon|
|Canned baked beans||2 Pound, drained (2 Cans, 1 Pound Each)|
|Dry mustard||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Chili powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Dry bread crumbs||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Unsalted butter/Margarine||1 Tablespoon, melted|
Place the ham in the center of an ungreased 11" x 9" x 2" microwave-safe baking dish.
Arrange the carrots in a single layer around the edge of the dish.
Combine the maple syrup and Dijon mustard in a small dish, then pour over the ham and carrots.
Cover with microwave-safe plas-tic food wrap, vent by turning back one corner, and microwave on High for 8 minutes, stirring the carrots once midway.
Mix the beans with the ketchup, dry mustard, and chili powder in a large bowl, then spoon on top of the ham and carrots.
Microwave, uncovered, on High for 8 minutes, stirring midway.
Toss the bread crumbs with the butter in a small bowl, then sprinkle over the beans and microwave, uncovered, on High for another 2 minutes.or, if you prefer, transfer to a preheated broiler and broil 4 inches from the heat for 1 minute or until tipped with brown.
