Brown-Sugar Beans

Brown sugar beans are made with northern beans along with brown sugar. Cooked and baked as a layered preparation with mustard for flavor and topped with bacon slices, the brown sugar beans are sweet and savory and can be spicy meain course meal.
Ingredients
  Great northern beans 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Dark brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Dry mustard 1 Tablespoon
  Salt To Taste
  Coarsely ground black pepper To Taste
  Bacon slices 6 , quartered
Directions

Cook beans to almost-tender stage; reserve liquid.
Layer beans about an inch deep in shallow baking pan or casserole; sprinkle liberally with brown sugar and several pinches mustard.
Add another layer of beans; sprinkle with brown sugar, mustard, good dash of salt, and pepper.
Place bacon randomly over top; add bean liquid until just visible through beans.
Bake in moderate oven about an hour.
