Crunch bar is a type of snack or dessert bar which has a crunchy texture. Ingredients like roasted nuts, peanuts, rice crispies, butterscotch make the bar crispy. It is generally a sweet tasting bar. The flavor of the bar depends on the ingredients used. It is rectangular in shape.
Types of crunch bars
Crunchy granola/ cereal bar – Cereals like puffed wheat, rice, rolled oats are binded using honey and sugar. They are baked and cut into pieces.
Chocolate crunch bar – Crispy rice cereal is mixed with compound chocolate and set. This bar is a dessert chocolate bar.
Ingredients and Preparation
Rice crispies, granola or any other cereals are used to make crunch bar. Other ingredients like sugar, honey, butter, chocolate are used to bind the cereals. Certain recipes include using saltine crackers and nuts.
Crunch bar is made by tempering or melting chocolate and then mixing rice crispies, toasted granola, nuts and then it is spooned on a wax paper lined baking dish. It is then refrigerated for 1 hour and then cut in to bars. All the ingredients can also be mixed in to a sugar, honey and butter mixture and then baked in the oven at 325 degree C.
Crunch bar can be made at home using similar techniques. Using melted chocolate is the easiest way of making crunch bar.
