Chocolate Nut Bars
|Butter||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), softened|
|Packed brown sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Grated lemon rind||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|All purpose flour||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Cocoa||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Ground cloves/Allspice||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Finely chopped nuts||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Semi-sweet chocolate bits||6 Ounce, melted (1 Package)|
|Chopped nuts/Nonpareils / colored sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Cream butter with sugar.
Beat in lemon rind.
Combine flour, cocoa and cloves and add to butter mixture, mixing well.
Stir in nuts.
Roll the dough into long ropes, each 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into 2-inch lengths.
Place on a greased baking sheet.
Bake in a preheated 325Â° oven 15 to 20 minutes or until firm.
Cool on a cake rack.
Dip ends in chocolate, then into chopped nuts.
