|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), softened (or margarine)|
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Almond-coconut topping||(as required)|
Heat oven to 350Â°.
Cream butter, shortening and sugar.
Blend in flour.
Press evenly in bottom of ungreased baking pan, 13x9x2 inches.
Bake 10 minutes.
Spread Almond-Coconut Topping on baked layer.
Bake 25 minutes longer or until topping is golden brown.
Cool cookies slightly; cut into bars, about 3X1 inch.
