|Dates||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
|Walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs), softened|
|Packed brown sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Whole wheat flour||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
Combine filling ingredients in a small saucepan.
Cook until thickened, stirring often.
To make dough, in the Bosch bowl cream together butter or margarine, brown sugar, and eggs.
Add remaining ingredients, and mix well.
Divide dough in half.
Roll half into a 9 x 13 inch rectangle, and press into a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
Cover with filling.
Roll out the second half of the dough to a 9 x 13 inch rectangle.
Place on top of the filling.
Press down lightly.
Bake in a 375°F.
Oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool, and cut into bars.
NOTE: Other dried fruits, such as prunes, raisins, or apricots may be substituted for or used in combination with the dates.
Equal portions of wheat, rye, barley, and oat groats may be milled together in the Magic Mill Plus and 4 cups of this flour used in place of the whole wheat flour.
