Chocolate Almond Coconut Bars
|All purpose flour/Unbleached flour||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Pillsbury's Best)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Margarine/Butter, softened||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (Parkay)|
|Coconut||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Canned sweetened condensed milk||14 Ounce (Not Evaporated Reserve 0.5 Cup For Frosting)|
|Blanched almonds||2 3⁄4 Ounce (0.5 Cup)|
|Semi sweet chocolate chips||6 Ounce|
Heat oven to 350Â°F.
Grease 9-inch square or 11x7-inch pan.
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
In small bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and margarine at medium speed until fine crumbs form.
Press in bottom of prepared pan.
In same bowl, combine coconut and 3/4 cup condensed milk; spoon and spread over crust.
Place almonds evenly over coconut mixture.
Bake at 350Â°F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until light golden brown.
Cool 10 minutes.
In small saucepan, blend reserved 1/2 cup condensed milk and chocolate chips over low heat until chocolate melts, stirring constantly
Stir in vanilla.
Spread over warm bars.
