Montego Bay Bars
|Cut dates||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Granulated sugar||2 Tablespoon|
|Water||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Unsweetened chocolate||1⁄2 Ounce (Around 0.5 A Square)|
|Butter/Margarine||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), softened|
|Packed brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|All-purpose flour||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Quick cooking oats||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Finely chopped nuts||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
Heat oven to 400Â°.
Grease square pan, 8x8x2 or 9x9x2 inches.
Cook dates, granulated sugar, water and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly, about 10 minutes or until mixture thickens; cool.
Cream butter and brown sugar.
Mix in remaining ingredients.
Press half the mixture evenly in bottom of pan.
Spread with date mixture; top with remaining crumble mixture, pressing lightly.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool; cut into bars, about 2x1 1/2 inches.
