Fruit And Nut Bars
|40% bran flakes||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs) (Post)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Walnuts chopped||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Raisins||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Grated orange rind||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Confectioner's sugar/2 1/2 cups post toasties or grape-nuts flakes||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Crush cereal finely.
Beat egg whitest and salt until foamy throughout.
Add 1/2 cup of the sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time beating after each addition until sugar is blended.
Continue beating until stiff peaks will form.
Fold in half of the cereal
Beat egg yolks until thick and lemons colored.
Add remaining 1/2 cup sugar, gradually, beating until blended.
Fold in: remaining cereal.
Fold into meringue mixture.
Then fold in nuts, raisins, and , orange rind.
Pour into greased 9x9x2-inch pan.
Bake in moderate oven (350Â° F.) 30 minutes, or until done.
Cut into rectangular bars and roll in confectioners' sugar.
