Toffee Nut Bars

It's extremely easy to make this Toffee Nut Bars - a big hit with kids and adults alike. So try out this deliciously different recipe for Toffee Nut Bars and serve it to your loved ones - they'll simply love it!
Ingredients
  Shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), firmly packed
  Sifted flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Eggs 2 Small
  Brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs), firmly packed
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Flour 2 Tablespoon
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shredded coconut 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Almonds 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
Directions

Cream together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Stir in 1 cup flour and blend well.
Press with hand into bottom of an ungreased, 13 by 9-inch oblong pan.
Bake in a moderate oven (350° F) 10 minutes.
Beat eggs well.
Beat in 1 cup brown sugar and vanilla.
Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
Stir into egg mixture.
Fold in coconut and almonds.
Pile egg mixture over top of baked dough in pan.
Return to 350° F oven and bake about 25 minutes.
Cool slightly; then cut into bars.
