Chocolate Butterscotch Bars
|Melted shortening||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Firmly packed light brown sugar||2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)|
|Sifted all purpose flour||2 3⁄4 Cup (44 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Chopped california walnuts||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Semisweet chocolate pieces||6 Ounce (1 Cup)|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
Add shortening to sugar and mix well.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add sifted dry ingredients, nuts, chocolate, and vanilla.
Spread in greased pan (15 x 10 x 1 inch).
Bake in preheated moderate oven (350° F.) for about 25 minutes.
While warm, cut into 50 bars.
