Chewy Pecan Cinnamon Bars
|Sifted flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Butter/Margarine||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Finely chopped pecans||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 300° F.
Sift flour with baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
Cream butter with 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy; add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix in dry ingredients.
Spread mixture in an ungreased 14"x17" baking sheet with a slightly raised edge.
Beat egg whites until frothy, add remaining sugar and continue beating until stiff; spread evenly over mixture on sheet; sprinkle with nuts.
Bake 40-45 minutes until golden.
Cool upright in pan on a rack 10 minutes, cut in bars, and cool.
