Apple Spice Bars
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Molasses||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sifted flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Dates||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
|Apple||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), diced|
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Blend sugar and shortening to a creamy, fluffy and light mixture. Mix egg and molasses and blend well.
3. Sieve flour, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, soda and baking powder together. Add diced apples and dates.
4. Take a 10 inch X 12 inch greased and floured pan and transfer the contents into it.
5. Bake for about 25 minutes. Allow to cool and cut into 1 inc X 3 inch bars and roll on the confectioners' sugar.
6. Serve as bars.
