Apple Candied Peel Bars
|Unbleached flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Rum flavoring||1 Teaspoon|
|Candied peel||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Chopped almonds||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Apple||1 , chopped|
Preheat oven to 350°C.
Mix first 4 ingredients together.
In a separate bowl, beat eggs well; stir in brown sugar, water, and rum flavoring.
When thoroughly blended, mix dry ingredients with egg mixture.
Finally, stir in peel, almonds, and apple.
Spread in a well-greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan or in miniature muffin tins to make small "fruit cakes." Bake for 20 minutes or until done.
Blend glaze ingredients together until smooth.
Glaze bars while still warm.
Cool thoroughly before cutting into squares.
