Apple Mincemeat Bars

Ingredients
  Butter 6 Tablespoon, softened
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Mincemeat 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Flour 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Rolled oats 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Chopped peeled tart apple 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Such As Granny Smith)
  Chopped walnuts 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square pan. In a medium bowl, beat butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. On low speed, beat in mincemeat until well blended.
2. Add flour mixed with oatmeal, baking soda, and salt and beat until well blended. Stir in chopped apple and walnuts.
3. Press dough into prepared pan, being careful to level surface. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out with a few moist crumbs clinging to it. Remove pan to a rack and let cool completely before cutting into 27 bars.
