Jam Strip Bars
|Margarine/Butter||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), softened|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|All purpose flour/Unbleached flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Ground nuts||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Jam||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Powdered sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Heat oven to 350°F.
Lightly grease 13x9-inch pan.
In large bowl, beat margarine, sugar and egg until well combined.
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off Stir flour, nuts, salt, cinnamon and cloves into egg mixture; mix well.
Press evenly in bottom of prepared pan.
With moistened finger, make 7 diagonal indentations 1/2-inch deep in dough.
Fill evenly with jam.
Bake at 350°F.
for 25 to 35 minutes or until firm to touch and edges are light golden brown.
In small bowl, combine powdered sugar, vanilla and enough milk for desired drizzling consistency.
Drizzle glaze over top.
Cool completely; cut into bars.
