Apricot Spice Bars

Ingredients
  Dried apricots 8 Ounce, snipped (1 Package)
  Water 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  All purpose flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  All purpose flour 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Ground cinnamon 2 Teaspoon
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Eggs 3 , slightly beaten
  Packed brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Chopped almonds/Chopped pecans 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sifted powdered sugar 1 Tablespoon
Directions

In saucepan simmer apricots in the water, covered, 5 minutes.
Set aside to cool.
Combine the 1 1/2 cups flour and sugar.
Cut in butter till crumbly.
Pat evenly into 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
Bake in 350° oven 17 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine the remaining 3/4 cup flour, the cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
Combine eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla; add to flour mixture and mix well.
Stir in undrained apricots and nuts.
Spread over baked layer.
Bake in 350° oven for 30 minutes or till top is set.
Cool in pan on wire rack; sprinkle with powdered sugar.
